Spring 2023
Students from the Spanish HEI’s Catholic University of Valencia, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, La Salle Campus Madrid, and the Estonian University of Tartu, together with students from Apor Vilmos Catholic College participated in the spring Erasmus+ Semester at Apor. The travel restrictions of the previous year being removed, students enjoyed travelling to neighbouring countries as well as visiting popular Hungarian locations like Esztergom, Szentendre or Lake Balaton.
A visit to the newly opened Museum of Ethnography remains a memorable event. The wealth of objects at the Zoom exhibition helped students identify their own heritage and find the common points in each other’s culture.
“Zooming in” continued also in the classroom talks on Hungarian art, literature, history, films, folk art and customs, as well as in the folk dance evening in the gym, the garden adventure in blossoming Vácrátót or the semester-long school visits.
Making projects on various aspects of Hungarian life and culture as well as intercultural dialogue required students “zoom in” individually on a chosen subject of their choice. They worked individually, like for example, on Hungarian legends, famous film locations or the oeuvre of Kodály Zoltán. They also had cooperative projects regarding the different aspects of intercultural dialogue, the topics ranging from expressing our emotions to intercultural methodology in the classroom.
As our BIP (blended intensive programme) is always an integral part of the Erasmus training programme, the Storytelling and Drama course includes students preparing for the thematic week. The BIP in 2023 focused on the topic of Educating Children to the Love of Nature, so during the course the students worked with (personal) stories about care of the environment, and nature. They got acquainted with different storytelling techniques, planning and analysis tools to discover the structure and the plot of stories, with the three key skills to story-making: imitation, innovation and invention. They learnt about different ways of applying puppets and everyday objects in early childhood education, and about the possibilities of verbal and non-verbal communication through drama. Visiting the Budapest Story Museum was a great experience for the students. According to their feedback they enjoyed all the interactive stations, where they could play like children…
Spring 2022
Students from Spanish ESCUNI, Madrid, and Turkish İbrahim Çeçen University, Agra, participated in the spring Erasmus+ Semester of the academic year 2021-2022. They completed the following modules:
We will long remember Jorge and Javie’s animated presentation of their home culture in the form of a Kamishibai/paper theatre, and the traditional Turkish Karagöz shadow play with the participation of the two Dilans, Dilara and Bariş.
This year was special, because our dormitory hosted refugee students from Ukraina, who happily participated in some of the Erasmus classes and other English-speaking programmes.
Here is what two of the students wrote about the 2022 Erasmus+ Semester at Apor:
“Hello, my name is Dilan, this semester I was a part-term Erasmus student of Apor Vilmos. I come from Turkey, I want to tell you briefly about my time here. First of all, I can assure you that you will never regret coming here as an Erasmus student, everyone here is wonderfully nice. The teachers were all friendly towards us, which always made the lessons fun and enjoyable. If I start counting the various activities we have done, the pages will fill up so you can be sure that we did a lot of activities and I definitely enjoyed them. I would like to thank all my teachers for giving me a pleasant, fun and unforgettable time, I will not forget these beautiful memories. Thank you.”
“We are very lucky to come to Apor Vilmos College. There were days in my life that I will never forget. Thanks to you here, I will share the knowledge I have gained with many of my trainee friends. I am grateful to you for giving me this chance. Thank you for everything, Apor! Bariş”

Spring 2021
In the spring semester of the academic year of 2020/21 AVCC had international students from Belgium and Poland. A peculiarity of the term was that it was carried out during the lockdown; the whole semester was held online. Though both teachers and students missed the face-to-face contact, teachers appreciated that the students were always attentively present despite their personal problems (e.g. quarantine). The openness of the students, their readiness for discussions helped to overcome the challenges and difficulties posed by online education. Teachers could even take advantage of online education when applying team teaching. As, despite the lockdown, our Belgian and Polish students chose to stay in Budapest, they had the opportunity to meet other Erasmus students, and they were resourceful in planning different outdoor programmes. In the International Week the Erasmus students took part as mentors to the other participants. The Erasmus courses were also offered for the Hungarian students as optional courses, and according to their feedback, it was really beneficial for them as well.
